A Letter of appreciation from the wife of a Vietnam Veteran whose husband is a patient at the Haley VA Hospital in Tampa.
One of our main charitable causes,Holiday meals and Wed Pizza nights.
At the holiday dinner delivery Friday to the Fisher House we had a wonderful conversation with the wife of a patient at the hospital.
While doing a photo op of the food delivery, a woman staying at the Fisher House who's husband is at the hospital took the pictures for us. Bob, a Navy Vietnam Veteran, that coordinated the food order, started talking to her. She expressed how thankful everyone was for the Thanks Giving dinner and this one. So I mentioned how was the pizza Wednesday night, she looked at me in surprise as I mentioned the variety of pizzas. I said yes, that was us also. She raved how the residents love pizza night.
Then she got into stories her husband had told her of his experiences in Vietnam. And then Jim, Bob and Tom also shared Vietnam experiences.
We get a letter from the hospital and a card (via you Toni) signed by the Fisher House Residents appreciating the holiday meals and pizza nights.
Hearing it emotionally in person from a resident felt so good!
Thank you for all you do for the residents,
